Hardware Compatibility
  • Desktop Computers

This is a hardware compatibility list ONLY for OEM desktop computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a desktop. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your x86 desktop computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.9.0 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.

May 05, 2016  There is a general issue running any viewer based on the Linden Lab code on OS X 10.11 which I have reported to and that has been accepted for possible resolution by Apple Engineering. In the meantime, downloading NVIDIA's web driver will resolve the issue for most users, although at some loss of performance over using the Apple driver. The AMD OS X Vanilla guide uses Kernel binary patches to enable native AMD CPU support on macOS without the need for a pre patched kernel file. This kext is what tells macOS 'Yes this is a real Mac', emulating the functionality of the SMC on real Mac's. Without it, no Hackintosh. Lilu.kext - this kext acts as a loader for other kexts and is. Depending on what internal contacts in the GPU are ruptured this might confuse or even crash the Mac. Mac OS X 10.13 High Sierra is also supported. To solve the issue of the backlight not coming back on after sleep also remove R9704 and connect R9704 pin 2 to C9711 pin 1. OS X 10.6 - 10.12 (Sierra). May 07, 2014 This are The Video Kext Drivers for ATI Radeon HD 5450 for mac os x Mavericks 10.9: Settings for org.chameleon.Boot.plist AtiConfig Eulemur GraphicsEnabler Yes 87 downloads (1 review). If I remember correctly, a problem with a previous version of OS X (I think it was 10.7 Lion) was that VirtualBox would cause kernel panics. I think that's when it was in use though.

  • ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
  • Please add hardware into tables.
  • This is for 10.9.0 builds only.

Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)

For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

[edit]Aspire M5811

For best user experience use Clover EFI Bootloader installed to HDD.

Hardware NameChipsetNotesPatches Used Compatible 64bit
Aspire M5811Intel H57 Express (5 Series Chipset)

(motherboard: Foxconn H57M01)

  • Intel Core i7 860 @2.80 GHz
  • RAM: 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3

  • all i7 processors out of the 8xx series work
  • This system supports 16GB Memory although Acer just writes 8GB
  • Works out of the box

Use Framebuffer 'Uakari' in Clover Bootloader for best performance

  • Very difficult to get it working. Try to use my workaround ->

For fully working audio (Analogue + Digital optical), use 'ALC888 Legacy v100202', enable automatic audio injection in CLOVER Bootloader, boot without caches. To enable 'Encoded Audio/Encoded SPDIF Passthrough' for Dolby Digital and DTS support to your Receiver, apply following command (without quotes) after installing kext:

'cd /System/Library/Extensions && sudo perl -pi -e 's x88x08xecx10 x80x08xecx10 g' AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA && sudo perl -pi -e 's x85x08xecx10 x88x08xecx10 g' AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA'

In Addition follow these instructions.

  • Install hnak's AppleIntelE1000e.kext
  • Works out of the box

  • Downloaded Mavericks on an iMac
  • Installed Mavericks on a USB flash memory drive (named MavericksUSB) but this could be done with the hard drive to be used.
  • Although this is supposed to be for the Optiplex 780-760, the Optiplex 960 is almost identical, I followed instructions at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/292748-guide-osx-mavericks-109-dell-optiplex-780-760/ to modify MavericksUSB flash memory drive with kexts, Chameleon boot loader, etc.

  • Made alterations to enable App Store to work properly
  • Cloned MavericksUSB drive to SATA hard drive with Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner may work too. (This doesn’t need to be done if you installed to the desired hard drive instead of a USB flash memory drive.
  • After cloning, booted with the cloned hard drive (If it won't boot, reboot with MavericksUSB flash memory drive and reinstall Chameleon to the cloned hard drive then reboot without the MavericksUSB flash memory drive in the computer)
  • ATI/AMD 512K Sapphire HD 4350 graphics card works with QE/CI and dual displays with rotation by adding 0x95531002 to info.plist of AMD4600Controller.kext (See my post at: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.8.4#AMD.2FATI)
  • Belkin F5D7050B USB 54G Wireless installation: http://archive.is/vMi5x
  • Gigabyte GC-WB300D Bluetooth/Wireless N Combo card - Bluetooth works natively but must first restart into Windows to initiate Bluetooth stack then restart into Mac OS X installation (inexplicable as to why this works).

Creating the macOS Install USB

Run MakeInstall as Admin from within the gibMacOS folder. Upon first run of the tool it will install the required dependancies to create your installer.
Now when at the main menu select the option number next to your USB device. In my case I only had one connected so I entered 1
We also want to select OpenCore as the bootloader so add O, so it looks like the image below.

On the next screen press 'y' then enter to confirm. Once it has selected the drive and formatted it you will be greeted with the next screen,

Now inside the gibMacOS directory navigate to macOS Downloads/publicrelease/*Version You Downloaded* and then hold Shift and right click on RecoveryHDMetaDMG.pkg and choose Copy as Path,

Now right Click on the CMD window to paste the path and press Enter.

The script will now continue and extract the resources and restore them to USB. This is where you need to be patient!

Amd Radeon 3000 For Mac Os X 10 12

Once finished it will install the OpenCore bootloader to the USB as default.
