Why would anyone with a Mac put this mess on the machine?
The Windows version is bad enough, Eeeek!
I've started calling it the freeze me up bundle.

All of AOL software is Beta. Who would ever put a RC on crap. Last desktop for Mac was bad and this one is no better. Who really needs AOL software running on their computer? Even if some of the few who still use AOL, why even bother with the software? A good web browser like Safari or Firefox will run much better and use less resources.

AOL die already take real player with you!

If it makes people happy using it, then good for them. Each to his own.

Why on earth would I allow some application to tarnish my beautiful OSX desktop, let alone use AOL?

Sounds perfect for Mac users.

There are some good things about AOL desktop, but several glaring problems, and they have to do with 'mail'. First, the print is VERY small, and you can't set a default size in preferences, so you have to manually change the point size each time if what is sent is not to your liking. Also, 'new mail' doesnt work nearly as fast as the old (now defunct) AOL software. When sending mail to a whole folder of people, it enlarges the window to the point that you have no place to type your message, and there is no scroll bar to scroll down. Which means you must type in your message first, and then add the messages.
Also, from Address book, There is no option to bcc..which means you have to copy and paste. You have to do a workaround to bcc someone from the addressbook. And..scrolling down the address book when you first open it up is a challange because it pops back each time until something is actually loaded. This is all a cumbersome problem. I want to like this software, but I can't recommend it..not just yet.

Why would someone punish OSX this way. Is this some sort of sick joke? who would use this? There are no useful features that cant already easily be done and yea..i'm not even gonna bother explaining how much this sucks.

OMG I've never encountered a bigger pest in my whole life. Seriously you've built up a pretty bad rep, I aint gona crack down on you like i know a few others have done concerning your statements around beta news, but do you seriously go round all the reviews reviewing the reviewers? How about I do a review of your review on a reviewer?
-------------------------------------------
You're really quite funny and I thank you for the compliment. Do what you say you're going to do and then move on.
By the way, AOL for Desktop is not likely to go away for either platform any time soon so get used to it being here.

Good product! The menus are simple and easy, you don't need to go every which way to be able to do what you want. AIM is built into the software which is awesome. You got the menu buttons to take you to where you want within the AOL network, without having to type the URL in. Pretty good start. Can't wait to see what's next. :)

Only two months after going into beta, AOL has released AIM for Mac 1.0. Unfortunately, not a whole lot has been changed since our review of the beta. There is still no option for video or audio chats, and beyond the addition of AIM Expressions (a library of Buddy sounds, wallpaper and animated Buddy Icons), it’s really no different than iChat. With the more advanced option of Adium for those who find iChat lacking and iChat being built right into OS X, it’s hard to see where AOL is positioning this app.

Adobe does not recommend that customers using old versions of Photoshop upgrade to macOS Catalina. Incompatible versions (version 19.x and earlier) will not display in the ‘Older Versions’ list within the Creative Cloud desktop app. Older versions use 32-bit licensing components and installers. Therefore, they cannot be installed. Adobe acrobat free. Nov 18, 2019  For years I've known the pain of the.0 release. Drivers break, apps break. The illusion is that Adobe and other third parties are ready first day of release is just that. So some advice: Upgrading strategies: 1. Don't make a major upgrade of your operating system as soon as the OS is released. Mojave-to-Catalina is a major upgrade. Oct 27, 2019  'Pre-August 2019 versions of Acrobat DC, Acrobat 2017, and Acrobat 2015 applications cannot be licensed on macOS 10.15 Catalina. Adobe recommends customers updating their Acrobat DC, Acrobat 2017, or Acrobat 2015 to the latest release. I have been running Acobat Pro X on Mojave for months with no issues. I occasionally get a message telling. Acrobat DC, Acrobat 2020, Acrobat 2017, and Acrobat 2015 are compatible with the new macOS 10.15 Catalina. Major changes in user experience and known issues are described in this document. Acrobat 2015: If you download Classic 2015 Acrobat or Reader patches from the release notes or the FTP site.

Not to be left out, AOL also updated the native client for their portal, AOL Desktop for Mac, to version 1.5. This update adds a new Parental Controls Assistant that “works with Mac OS X to turn off Internet browsers and other applications and deliver age-appropriate content via the AOL Desktop for Mac browser.” This, however, is a bit more redundancy on AOL’s part as OS X has its own — and much more robust, I might add — parental controls built-in.

While it’s good to have options, I can’t help but feel that AOL’s Mac offerings are way too little way too late and I think the appeal only lies within those who have a bit of nostalgia for their dial-up days. If you, however, do decide to venture the “official” route and pick up AIM for Mac, note that to disable its annoying habit of opening the “AIM Dashboard” in your browser every time you sign-on, un-check the “Show AIM start page when I sign in” option under the “General” tabs in settings.
