Aug 23, 2012 Barry, This is what I use MPEG Streamclip for: to convert mp4 files to mp3.To convert flv files to mpeg. Also,to knock down the bit rates of said files.I have no problems with it. The only time I did run into a problem is when I deleted DivX from my computer. Reinstalling that and MPEG Streamclip worked fine again.

I also loved using MPEG Streamclip too - fortunately my main audio rig (a high Sierra Mac Pro 2010 cheese grater) still runs it. Catalina also cut support for the ancient (but powerful) Quicktime 7 Pro.
Apr 18, 2018 My guess is that MPEG StreamClip uses legacy Quicktime Frameworks and not AVFoundation and that's the reason it's not compatible with High Sierra. Development of StreamClip stoped around 2012 with beta 1.9.3. Release 1.9.2 was in 2008.

MPEG Streamclip for Mac - any alternatives?
I often use MPEG Streamclip to transcode to ProRes or DNxHD, but seeing as it does not use all threads for me (only one thread on a 3770K right now) and no development has been done to MSC since 2012 (does anyone know, if it is dead?), is there any alternative?
