Having never heard of NetExtender before, I can only go on how you've described it in your post, and I have to say, Macs don't need third-party programs to perform 'maintenance' on them. One thing I can say is that before you upgrade your operating system, you should always make sure that all of your applications, plug-ins, drivers, extensions, etc., are compatible with what you're upgrading to. That could be part of the problem, should this program not be what I think it sounds like. Are you running the most current version, and is that version compatible with El Capitan?

  1. NetExtender cannot be installed. Check your OS Version, NetExtender only supports Win2000 or above, Mac OS X 10.5 or above with Apple Java 1.6.010 or above, and Linux OpenSUSE in addition to Fedora Core and Ubuntu. An i386-compatible Linux distribution is required, along with Sun Java 1.6.010+.
  2. For Sonicwall (either NSA-series or TZ-series firewalls using SSL-VPN, or SRA-series SSL-VPN appliances) you need to use NetExtender for Windows 8.0 or previous (or Mac OS X 10.8 or previous). Off hand, I know of no way to use the native VPN in Win 8.0 (or earlier) to connect to the SSL-VPN on Sonicwalls, only to the IPSEC/L2TP client VPN.
