- edited August 2018Quicken Essentials Mac does not run on High Sierra. You will either need to revert your macOS, or upgrade to Quicken Mac 2018. Fortunately, QM18 will read and import your QEM file.
One other option would be to run the older version of macOS in a virtual machine such as Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion.
QM18 is a subscription product. The Starter edition is the least expensive and most closely parallels the functionality of QEM. But once the subscription expires with Starter, it becomes read only. To be able to continue to use the program beyond the subscription period, you need Deluxe or above. However, for all versions, once the subscription expires all online functionality is turned off. This includes the Mobile App, transaction and quote download and QFX file import.

FYI, The last macOS that QEM is compatible with is 10.11.x. Anything newer and QEM will not run as there was a major change to macOS with 10.12 onward.Quicken Essentials Mac does not run on High Sierra.
