Mac OS X 10.1 (code named Puma) is the second major release of Mac OS X (now named macOS), Apple's desktop and server operating system. It superseded Mac OS X 10.0 and preceded Mac OS X 10.2.Version 10.1 was released on September 25, 2001 as a free update for Mac OS X 10.0 users. The operating system was handed out for no charge by Apple employees after Steve Jobs' keynote speech. An x11vnc side-project provides an Enhanced TightVNC Viewer package (SSVNC) for Unix, Windows, and Mac OS X with automatic SSL and/or SSH tunnelling support, SSL Certificate creation; and on Unix: NewFBSize, ZRLE, cursor alphablending, and low color modes support. Also on Unix the UltraVNC Text Chat, Single Window, Server Input, and 1/n Scaling. X11vnc is a Virtual Network Computing (VNC) server program. It allows remote access from a remote client to a computer hosting an X Window session and the x11vnc software, continuously polling the X server's frame buffer for changes. This allows the user to control their X11 desktop (KDE, GNOME, Xfce, etc.) from a remote computer either on the user's own network, or from over the Internet as. BTW, one way to run an Xvfb-like virtual X server for testing on AIX is something like '/usr/bin/X11/X -force -vfb -ac:1'. Building on Mac OS X: There is now native Mac OS X support for x11vnc by using the raw framebuffer feature. This mode does not use or need X11 at all. To build you may need to disable X11. Aug 14, 2012  August 14, 2012 amida168 Mac OS 0 I have been asked to help install the VNC service on an Ubuntu machine. The installation is straightforward; here is a page detailing how to connect to the VNC service from a Windows PC or another Ubuntu machine.

x11vnc allows one to remotely view and interact with real X displays (i.e. a display corresponding to a physical monitor, keyboard, and mouse) with any VNC viewer. It is designed to be compatible with all Unix variants and Mac OS X, and depends on a small set of standard libraries. It supports SSL/TLS and VeNCrypt encryption, Unix password logins, single port access, Zeroconf, file transfer, and UltraVNC extensions. It is part of the LibVNCServer project.

Release Notes: Improved support for non-X11 touchscreen devices, such as the Qtmoko Neo Freerunner, is provided. Interaction with the TSLIB touchscreen library is supported. The non-X11 input injection methods on Linux are extended to potentially handle more devices. The Mac OS X native server nowuses OpenGL for the screen pixel capture which is usually much faster than the older method. Unix sockets and raw stdio (i.e. non-TCP/socket) connections are enabled. The SSL enabled Java VNC Viewer now handles mouse wheel events.

Release Notes: A compile time error when using--with-system-libvncserver to point to LibVNCServer 0.9.7 was fixed. A bug from the forced use of Xdefs.h is worked around. The kdm display manager is now detected when trying not to get killed by the display manager. One can now specify the maximum number of displays that can be created in -create mode via X11VNC_CREATE_MAX_DISPLAYS.

Release Notes: The SSL enabled Java VNC Viewer Makefile has been modified so that the jar files that are built are compatible back to Java 1.4. In -create/-unixpw mode, the environment variable FD_USERPREFS may be set to a filename in the user's home directory that includes default username:options values (so the options do not need to be typed every time at the login prompt). The source tree is synchronized with the most recent libvncclient. The correct header files are now used when an external LibVNCServer is used.

Release Notes: IPv6 is now supported for all usage modes. A demo CGI script, 'desktop.cgi', shows how to create an SSL-encrypted, multi-user x11vnc Web login desktop service. The included SSL-enabled Java VNC viewer applet supports Chained SSL Certificates. A Java Viewer applet parameter allows one to specify a VNC server's certificate. The Xdummy utility no longer requires being run as root.

Release Notes: A system greeter option enables jumping directlyto the GDM/KDM login panel for one's initialunixpw login. x11vnc now avoids GDM's attemptsto kill it just after the user logs in. A simpleapplication sharing mode showing multiple windowsis enabled via -appshare. XAUTHORITY filenameguessing is enabled via -findauth and '-authguess'. The -stunnel mode now supports mostof the -ssl features. Workarounds are enabledfor bugs in Xorg and GNOME that cause the Xorgserver to crash. x11vnc keeps up with viewerupdate requests more aggressively. Fonts maybe changed for the GUI.

Great work!
This is so handy to have for already running X11 sessions. Even more handy for older Xterminals that can't do this on thier own!

Thank you very much!

Looking for beta-testers for x11vnc-0.7.2
Hi, any beta-testing of 0.7.2 would be much appreciated, more info at:

Awesome
This is an awesome program. I really missed the possibility of connecting with the VNC client to an already running X11 server. Thanks much!

Looking for beta testers for -scale option.
I'm not sure who will see this, but what the heck.. Iphone configuration utility for mac high sierra.

I'm the x11vnc author, I've just added server-side

scaling to x11vnc (-scale fraction option), and I'd

appreciate anyone who will help me test it out for bugs.

It might be on the slow side, I'm not so worried about

that as much as painting errors or very poor image

quality. The new file in the sourceforge libvncserver CVS

and also at http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/x11vnc.c

See the FAQ on scaling for more info. Thanks.

Is your Mac up to date with the latest version of the Mac operating system (macOS or OS X)? Is it using the version required by some product or feature? Which versions are earlier (older) or later (newer, more recent) than the version currently installed? To find out, learn which version is installed now.

If your macOS isn't up to date, you may be able to update to a later version.

Which macOS version is installed?

From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You'll see the macOS name, such as macOS Mojave, followed by its version number. If some product or feature requires you to know the build number as well, click the version number to see it.

This example shows macOS Catalina version 10.15 build 19A583.

Which macOS version is the latest?

X11vnc For Mac Os X

These are all Mac operating systems, starting with the most recent. When a major new macOS is released, it gets a new name, such as macOS Catalina. And as updates that change the macOS version number become available, this article is updated to show the latest version of that macOS.

Mac Os X Update

If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar, and Photos.
